There are 3 kinds of bosses in this world:
1) Those we just can’t seem to get along with… no matter how hard we try. They are the bureaucrats that value pushing paper over actual productive work. They are the ‘Nasty Nancies’ that take great pleasure in demeaning you. They are the oafs that think their job as a boss is to make sure you are always worried about being fired.
2) There are those that are a dream to work with. They are encouraging. They are trusting. They value your hard work and stand behind you anytime something goes a little haywire.
3) Then there are the types of bosses that few people think about… our customers. Whenever you buy something from a company, you are their boss. You can complain, you can encourage, or you can take your money elsewhere, and encourage everyone else to do the same.
“There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else.”- Sam Walton.
It has never been easier than now to get your negative experiences publicized.
The internet. All these things like Facebook. Email. Blogs.
All of them are perfect for spreading the word.
Good and bad.
In my business, my customers and clients are kings and queens. They are the ones in control… and if I don’t do my job right, they ensure I don’t make money and cannot feed my family.
I personally work very hard to ensure my clients DO get the best experience possible.
I also encourage you to do the same.
If you have customers, invest in more training to find out what they want.
If you don’t have customers, you still have others in your life you interact with.
Ask them more questions… more personal questions.
Find out who they really are.
Find out their dreams, their goals, their passions.
Talk about their interests… and they will soon become even closer clients and friends.
Certainly makes for some great connections and friendships!
